The Wine Club had a very fun last quarter of 2018 with the Holiday Party being the highlight! We want to thank Fred and Fernando for the wonderful food that was prepared for us this year. The entire Kiva Club Management team was on hand assisting with food and beverage service. We appreciate getting to see each of them and for the support they provide to the Wine Club.
The Kiva Club staff is so helpful with the ticketing process for our Kiva Club Wine Tastings, as well as arranging our meeting rooms for the wine tastings, delivery, board meetings, and Holiday party. Gregg, Danielle, David, and Fred deserve a big thank you for all the assistance they provide. Fred and Fernando have assisted us with making changes to the small bites served at the Kiva Club Wine Tastings which we believe has been a great success.
I have been very fortunate to have worked with a very experienced group of Board Members, and wish to extend my appreciation to Lynne Petersen, Nancy Hancock, Maribeth Chappell, and Dave Brandman for their outstanding volunteer service for the Wine Club. We have a wonderful group of people joining the Board; Doug Gilmore, Ellen Zonn, Sue Bieber, and Bob Perry. Please extend a welcome to them when you see them at your next Wine Club event.
We are looking forward to tasting new wines (to most of us) at the Kiva Club Wine Tastings, that Kelly Stewart from Quench, continues to find for us. I learn something at each tasting and have an expanded appreciation of how wine and various foods complement each other.
We are also looking forward to another opportunity to support, and give back to our community this year. The Wine Club will be sponsoring a table for Pack Day on March 5, 2019. Please consider volunteering to staff the table so er can help make this a success.
Cheers to 2019!
Cheers!

Let’s Go Places, Outside Events – Jojo Grove
Our November dinner was held at Seoul BBQ & Sushi Restaurant, which is right next to Papadeaux Seafood Restaurant off the I-17, and it was fantastic!
The experience was amazing and the food was unique and delicious. If I had to count, there were probably more than 10 courses and sides! I'd guess that everyone was probably eating leftovers for days.
The owner was a delight and went out of his way to make everyone happy.
We were served so many diverse entrees that I don’t think I can name them all, but there was everything including vegetable dishes and meats prepared on the grills built into each table! If you did not attend this one, do yourself a favor, go try this unique Korean restaurant.
Kelly Stewart was there introducing and suggesting the wines that he chose to go with our dinners. As always, he was full of wine knowledge and helped make the evening a special time.
There was no outside event scheduled for busy December, but January will start off our New Year with a return visit to Saigon Kitchen! Be on the lookout for your Punchbowl invitation. I hope to see everyone in the months to come!!
I wish you a Healthy and Happy New Year!
Cheers!

Kiva Events – Lynne Peterson
Not only has this year flown by, the past three years on the wine board have gone by in a flash.
The last quarter of the year found us comparing wines from Sonoma and Napa and comparing three different varietals in October. November found us selecting wines to give as gifts during the holidays as well as wine for our holiday dinners. Next was the Wine Club Holiday Party where we drank lovely wine, had a lovely buffet prepared by the Blue Star kitchen, and danced the night away to Thaddeus Rose and his band.
Here are a couple pictures from the Holiday Party. This link will take you to photos from the wonderful evening. ... you just might see yourself in there.

As I turn over the reins of the KIva Events to Doug Gilmore, I want to thank the board and my committees for their help and support the past three years. I hope you will all support Doug in the same ways.
Next year I hope many of you will consider taking a position on the board. It is a fun experience.
We tasted and selected Italian wines for the January 2019 event. It always sells out so be sure to get your tickets early as you will not want to miss this one.
Cheers!

Home Socials – Jan Trella
As we start a new year, it is always nice to reflect on the past year. This was a busy year with the Home Socials in the Wine Club. We held socials in 10 months, only taking off in July and August. We had 35 hosts for the socials this year and 1,237 people attended the socials. We thank all of you who opened your homes for these socials and look forward to enjoying socials again in 2019.
Of course, we cannot enjoy Home Socials if we do not have hosts. I have contacted those who are due to host in 2019 and have 28 hosts scheduled for this year but I still have some open months. I am still trying to schedule one home a month in Trilogy West. The Home Socials are held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, except July and August. I still need hosts -- 1 May in TW, 2 or 3 in June, 2 September (1 in TW), 1 in October, 3 in November. If you can host, please contact me so I can have the schedule filled.
Finally, it is always good to remind everyone, especially new members, the requirements for participating in Home Socials.
- Home Socials are held on the second Saturday of the month
- Home Socials are for Wine Club Members only
- All participants in Home Socials are expected to host (it works out to about once every 3 to 4 years)
- Each person attending is to bring 1 bottle of wine (2 per couple) valued at least $10. These wines are then left with the host.
- Each couple is to bring one appetizer to share.
Home assignments are sent out the Sunday before the Social (if you prefer to stay in TW or stay in the original Trilogy, let me know so I can note it on my records). If you need to cancel once you are assigned, let me know so if there is a waiting list, others can be assigned.
PLEASE DON'T CHANGE YOUR PUNCHBOWL RSVP FROM YES TO NO AFTER THE ASSIGNMENTS ARE MADE.
Cheers and have a Happy and Healthy 2019!
Jan Trella
TWC Joins Forces to Feed the Hungry
Each year, 500+ volunteers join forces in the fight against hunger at Trilogy’s Food For Kidz Pack Day Event.
Food for Kidz hosts a series of fundraising events to raise money to purchase ingredients, supplies, and distribution materials to pack meals that are donated to people in need, especially kids. These events include a golf tournament, dinner dance, and coin drop.
All of the fundraising efforts benefit the final packing event. Thousands of meals are prepared that day. Half of the meals are donated to Phoenix area food banks, and half are sent to the National Food For Kidz in Minnesota for distribution in the United States and internationally.
Here’s where the Trilogy Wine Club comes in!
This year Pack Day is scheduled for March 5, 2019, the goal is to pack 150,000 meals. They need our help to accomplish this goal.
The Wine Club will be sponsoring a table for Pack Day. This requires that our table be manned with at least 6 people from 10am to 3pm on March 5th. Members can work the entire shift, or just a few hours, we just need to ensure we have 6 members working the table the entire time.
We need YOU at our table! Mark your calendars now for March 5 to join your Wine Club friends with this special event. We’ll be sending out additional information so keep watch!
