From the President, Diane Vetter
Fall is officially here and many of our part-time members are returning to Trilogy. Those of us who live here year ‘round are looking forward to having everyone back and starting up our monthly wine events.
Many of us had the opportunity to travel through the US and overseas to taste new wines this summer both good and bad. Please share your wine experiences with us. We’ll add them to our next newsletter so other Trilogy travelers following in your footsteps have your great advice.
Our monthly Kiva Club Wine Tastings, Socials and the Holiday Party are all scheduled. See the calendar below to mark your personal calendar for your favorite events that you won’t want to miss.
Coming soon to your e-mail inbox will be the ballot for the 2020 Wine Club Board. We appreciate the individuals who have stepped forward and volunteered. As you all know, none of the events could happen without volunteers!
Looking forward to seeing you soon through a red or white.
Cheers!

Kiva Events – Mike Hewitt
Fall is here bringing a bit cooler weather…. And we hardly noticed or had a monsoon season. Heck, I even made a trip back here in August from Washington State to see just how bad is it in Arizona during the Summer. Well, we found out it wasn’t all that bad and we survived. Air-conditioning and chilled white wine helped.
It’s now that time of year that the part-timers are returning to Vistancia along with all the Year 'Round residents who took trips to escape the heat.
September brought back the Kiva Club Wine Tastings and thank you Lynne & Roger Petersen and all the volunteers for taking care of that event.
PLEASE NOTE!! There’s a date and time change for the October Wine Tasting. It will be on a FRIDAY night. Make sure you mark your calendar for Friday, October 25 from 5:30-7:30. We had to move the October tasting from our usual Sunday night to a Friday to accommodate a Kiva wedding. So Chef Robbie suggested: let’s make it special and have an October’s “Wine & Food Pairing.” We will enjoy Northern California wines with tasty harvest hors d'oeuvres that Chef Robbie will create.
Sunday, November 17 Wine Tasting will be a “Gift & Holiday Wines." Just in time for Thanksgiving and the Christmas Holiday.
Our annual Holiday Party will be held Friday, December 6th. Chef Robbie and the Kiva Event staff are already working on the menu. Thaddeus Rose and his band will be providing the entertainment. The Decoration Committee volunteers are coming up with fun ideas to make the evening special with photo opportunities and the all-important wine selections. Watch your emails for more details in the next few weeks.
As I have said before and will continue to say: We so appreciate members willingly volunteering to help with anything and everything. I also say “Hats Off” to my fellow board members, who put in lots of hours making the Club run smooth and events fun. The Wine Club is a volunteer group and none of the events could happen without everyone's help and participation. I encourage Wine Club members to sign up for the board as it is a fun experience and easy way to meet people and make new friends.
Cheers,
Mike

The Mitchell’s and the Hewitt’s traveled to Oregon’s Willamette Valley for a few days of wine tasting. We were pleasantly surprised with their diverse selection of wines.

Home Socials – Jan Trella
We are starting the last quarter of 2019 and getting into the busier season for Home Socials. This last quarter was quiet as we took a vacation from Home Socials for July and August and finally had 3 homes scheduled for the social on September 14th. Sue Bieber, 2020’s chair for Home Socials helped me out while I was traveling and sent out the invitation on the 30th of August and made the home assignments while I was traveling. The 3 houses scheduled filled up in 24 hours but I got an email when we were in the Adriatic Sea from Bobbi and Keith Kirkpatrick volunteering to be a 4th house because they saw that it had filled up. A big thank you to them for stepping up and we were able to place all those who expressed an interest in attending.
We have 4 homes scheduled for October 12th, November 9th, and 3 for December14th, so I need another host for December. I am also looking for hosts for 2020 so that I can hand things over to Sue with at least the first half of the year scheduled.
A reminder is that one of the requirements for participating in Home Socials is that everyone must host (it is around once every 4 years now) so if you haven’t hosted yet or know that you haven’t hosted since 2016, please volunteer before I send out an appeal in October. I try to schedule one house a month in Trilogy West. I need hosts for the following months:
3 for January 11th(TW already filled) 2 for February 8th (TW already filled)
2 for Mar 14th(1 TW needed) 3 for April 11th (2 Trilogy, 1 TW)
2 for May 9th(1 TW, 1, Trilogy) 2 or 3 June 13th
3 for Sept 12th 1 for October 10th (TW)
3 for November 14th(2 Trilogy, 1 TW) 4 for December 12th
Email me at [email protected]
One final thing. The Punchbowl program is the only way we communicate with you about the Home Socials, Kiva Events, and Dining out events. If you notify Punchbowl that you do not want to receive these emails, you will not know about the events. If you feel that just one email will work for your family with home socials, notify me and in the Home Social part of the program I can remove your email, but you will remain on the list so that your spouse will still be able to RSVP for both of you. If you notify Punchbowl you will completely disappear from the program and cannot be added back without you contacting Punchbowl again. It seems that every month I’m looking to find out why my numbers aren’t what they should be and it is because someone has not notified me.
See you at the socials!
Cheers!
Jan Trella
