Happy New Year!
As we embark on another year of Wine Club activities, the Board would like to welcome our new and returning members. We are looking forward to an exciting year of wine tastes, home socials, and the return of dining out. The Board would like to thank our departing board members for a job well done: Stephen Lattion – secretary, Mike Hewitt – Kiva Tastings, and Bob Perry – IT. Joining the Board are Mark Whisler – Publicity, Christy Brogan – IT, and Don Feltri – Dining Out. Several Board members have also changed positions: Debbi Mitchell will take over Kiva Events and Ed Mason has become secretary.
In 2022 we look forward to tasting some new wines and enjoying some old favorites. Wayne Dollman, who was our Quench Fine Wines representative, is now with Stem Wine Company and will continue to be our wine taste presenter. The wines that will be offered are not available in stores. There will be several new themes for our tastings as well.
This year we have engaged the services of MyClubWine to handle the checkout/sales process which should eliminate the long lines of the past. (We know there has been some confusion regarding our in-house Wine Club and the Trilogy wide program utilizing MyClubWine, as their website says “Trilogy Wine Club”. We hope to be able to rectify this as time goes on.) Please see their welcome letter following this article. I will try to address some potential questions:
Will this change our Wine Tastes? No. Wine tastes will still be handled the same way. The only difference will be in the checkout process. You will hand your order form to the MyClubWine representative at the end of the evening. You will not pay until you come and pick up your wine. So, if you forget your checkbook, it will not matter!
How will I pick up my wine? You will still pick up your wine on the Wednesday after the taste. A Trilogy Wine Club Board member will be near the Kiva desk to give you your order form, you will pay at the front desk (preferred method will be your member charge), you will then take your receipt to the Kiva Library and pick up your wine.
What is the benefit for Trilogy Wine Club Members? If you log onto the MyClubWine site (it can be found under “helpful links” and “order wine by the case” on the MTL site), there will be a separate login for members of our Trilogy Wine Club. If you really like a wine at the tasting and want to reorder it after the tasting, you will be able to do so. However, note that wine orders on this site must be ordered by the case. You can ask to share a case, or identify a friend or two that might share it with you. In addition, the wine prices for Wine Club members will be lower than the general site.
We are sure you will have other questions as we proceed. Please address them to members of the Board. We will try to make this as easy as possible for you. All in all, we are looking forward to a year of delicious events to tantalize our palates.
Cheers,
Ellen

Introducing MyClubWine – Scott Bowman
Kiva Club Events – Debbi Mitchell
Happy New Year to all our TWC members! As we enter 2022 we will remain COVID-19 cautious and keep our tastings with your table selection, wine will be delivered to your tables, and food will be served on individual plates at the beginning of the tastings.
I am looking to form a committee for the Kiva Events. Please email [email protected] if interested.
Duties include:
• Member input to monthly events (Ex: Food selection, theme ideas)
• Help set up an hour prior to event (Ex: opening wine, table order forms/pens, wine buckets on tables, registration manager support check in)
• Post events clean up (Ex: cleaning buckets, collecting pens)
• Wine Distribution post Kiva Events (details to come)
• Special Support: Decorating ideas, for High End Event, Holiday Party
2022 payment method will be simplified via using MyClubWine (see MyClubWine section above and Ellen’s message with all the details). This new process will streamline your orders the night of a tasting. There will be no waiting in line, just an order form collected at the end of the evening with your Kiva account number. And no check is needed. Your order will then be filled and then available for pick up as usual.
Please remember to be respectful of our Wine Distributor when he is telling us about the wines we are tasting. We ask that you remain silent during his presentation and then discuss amongst your table when enjoying each wine.
Look for Punchbowl evites each month for details on tickets sales dates/time and cost per person.

Dining Out – Don Feltri
February marks the return of our Dining Out event, something we’ve not done since February of 2020 – a long break! On February 16th, we will dine at Fabio On Fire, featuring excellent Italian cuisine just minutes from Trilogy. The owner, Fabio Ceschetti, is from the Italian town of Domodossola in the far northeast corner of the country. His menu features a nice variety of authentic dishes; for our dinner, we
will have the choice of three entrees, along with a glass of wine, salad, and dessert.
Look for details and an invitation the last week of January.
Here’s hoping you can join us as we restart a Wine Club favorite – Dining Out!

Home Socials – Debbie Edwards
We’ve had numerous positive responses to the December home socials. Our hosts, Tom and Liz Miller, Ray Shumway/Jacquie Bushong, Jim Lumpkin/Connie Farah, and Pete and Traci Van Egmond were terrific hosts, with lots of holiday-themed décor.
We kicked off the new year with our January home socials at the homes of Steve and Jerrie Groman, Sam and Cathy Rentfrow, Dan and Barbara Martinson, and Teresa Spinelli. Despite some last minute member cancellations, each home had lots of fun people, who made new friends or reconnected with past acquaintances. Even though it was early January, many people congregated outdoors, and stayed late. Our hosts all did wonderful jobs of planning little touches that made all of us feel welcome. Photos from January are posted at https://www.trilogywineclub.com/january-2022-home-social.html.
After only one week in the new year, we have several new members, who’ve heard about TWC through word of mouth, and we’re confident there will be many more. Many thanks to our members for spreading the word. As all of us moved to Trilogy from various places, home socials are a great venue for making new friends.
One excellent way to meet new members is to attend home socials in both the Mita and Kiva neighborhoods. As a reminder, we’re one club, and drivers are on Vistancia Boulevard for less than .5 mile when going from gate to gate.
The monthly home assignment requirements haven’t been updated in several years. Due to increased manufacturing and retail costs, it’s difficult to find a quality wine for $10. We plan to update the minimum bottle cost to $15.00, in order to maintain our positive wine club experience.
And although the calendar confirms that it’s January, the weather is warming up to the high 60s/low 70s. Even with cool evenings, our attendees are able to spend part of the evening outdoors.
Looking forward to touching base with our current and new members in the coming months.

Membership Update – Pam Molloy
The Trilogy Wine Club has a number of events planned for 2022; tastings and food pairings, home socials and outside dining. Renewing your membership is the best way to continue receiving information on these events.
The Wine Club began accepting membership renewals starting December 1, 2021 for the 2022 club year. Any member that has not renewed their membership will soon stop receiving wine club correspondence and invitations to events. This deadline is January 31, 2022.
All current members need to fill out a new 2022 application and send it with the appropriate fees (as listed on the application) to the Club Treasurer at the address listed on the form.
The application can be found by visiting the membership section of the wine club website at: www.trilogywineclub.com. If you have problems locating the form, please let me know and I will email it to you.
The wine board appreciates your patience and understanding as we continue to work through the pandemic. We are on track to have a great wine year and to share a number of great events with you!!
If you have any questions about membership, please contact me at [email protected] or at [email protected].
Cheers!

Members’ Corner – Mark Whisler
As the Publicity Chair and newest member of the Trilogy Wine Board, I have been reviewing old newsletters for content, style, and other ideas that worked well in the past. It turns out there were lots of great stuff! Members have shared their favorite wines, interesting wine-related travel, recipes, great wineries, and much more. So, what would you like to share with your fellow members? A surprisingly good wine for a bargain price? The “restart” of travel as the pandemic recedes? A restaurant in our area with a great wine list? Anything that you’re interested in could interest others, so please email me your thoughts at [email protected]. I’ll start to publish your stories in the April edition of The Grapevine. And finally, if you’re looking for more wine-related material to read, our website has dozens of links to explore at https://www.trilogywineclub.com/links.html.
Thanks!

On our first trip outside of Trilogy in over a year, Shelley and I visited Jacuzzi Family Vineyards in Sonoma for a tasting. Over the years, our Trilogy Wine Club members have written about dozens of great California and West Coast wineries, so why write about another? Because this one is a bit different than most, in that they feature classic Italian varietals. Jacuzzi's wine list includes several reds, such as Montepulciano (our favorite), Alglianico, Sangrantino, Sangiovese, Teroldigo, and others. And there are several very good white wines as well, such as their Bianchetta Trevigiana and Malvasia. They even offers two premium wines made in clay amphorae, an ancient technique from Roman days.
The day of our visit featured delightful California spring weather, and we thoroughly enjoyed the wine tastes and charcuterie in the courtyard tasting area. Jacuzzi offers a choice of five different tasting menus which need to be booked in advance. This winery does not ship to distributors in Arizona, however, they do have three levels of wine club membership which include discounts on wine and shipping to this area for a reasonable price.
To learn more about Jacuzzi Family Vineyards, or to book a visit, go to https://www.jacuzziwines.com/. It's the least expensive way to try some authentic Italian wines without a transatlantic flight!
