From the President, Ellen Zonn
This is my first official act as President of the Wine Club. I am very excited about the coming year and all the events the Wine Club will be offering. Please join me in welcoming Debbi Mitchell, Pam Molloy and Stephen Lattion to the Board. I also want to express my sincere appreciation to Diane Vetter, Jan Trella, and Jojo Grove for all their hard work during their tenure. We hope 2020 will be another exciting and fun year for the Wine Club.
The Wine Club had a busy 4th quarter, with the Holiday Party being the capstone. The members who attended dined and drank well, and danced the night away. Chef Robbie and Fred, along with the rest of the Kiva Club staff and management team, did an outstanding job. We appreciate all they do for us over the course of the year.
Our October wine tasting took on a new look this year with a Friday evening tasting and food pairing. It was well received by the attendees. November’s home social, dine out event, and wine tasting were all well received, and we look forward to planning next year’s events. The staff at the Kiva Club is so helpful with the ticketing process for our tastings, as well as with arranging our meeting rooms for wine tastings, wine deliveries, Board meetings, and, of course, the Holiday party. Gregg, Danielle, David, and Fred deserve a big thank you for all the assistance they provide.
In 2020 we are looking forward to tasting some new wines and possibly some old favorites as well. Kelly Stewart from Quench continues to help us find a diverse selection of wines. I learn something new at each tasting and hope you do as well.
From home socials, to wine tastings, to dining out experiences, the Wine Çlub provides a variety of options to all our members. We hope you continue to attend and enjoy these different offerings.
Feliz Ano Nuevo, Bonne Annee, Buon Anno, Frohes Neues Jahr!
However you choose to say it, Happy New Year and a Joyous 2020.
Cheers!
Ellen Zonn

Let’s Go Places, Outside Events – JoJjo Grove
Well, here we are…and the New Year is well on its way. It has been a pleasure and great fun being in charge of outside events for the Wine Club for the last two years. I am proud to pass that torch over now to Debbi Mitchell! I know she will be great, and hope that she has fun doing it like I did .
My last planned outside event was in November at Amuse Bouche, which is a very popular restaurant among many of our residents here in Trilogy. As always, the food and ambience were great, John Bossman, is the chef/owner and does an outstanding job every time we visit!
Thank you to everyone who supported the Outside events for the last two years, and remember to support Debbi in her upcoming events!!
Wishing everyone, a very Happy and Healthy 2020!!!
Cheers!
Jojo Grove

HAPPY NEW YEAR!....365 New Days….365 New Chances for our palates to try new and interesting wines!
As we enter the year 2020….. with new 2020 vision, we look forward to new experiences.
What does the year have in store for Wine Club Kiva Events?
We started with a “Taste of Italy” on Sunday, January 19…. and it was "splendido" Make sure you join us for our February 23 tasting.
During this year, we will visit wines from the “Pacific NW”, “Tour California wines”, “Wines from Down Under,” Wines from around the world,” and we will also try “Best of the Best”!
Let’s revisit some of the wines we enjoyed in 2017, 2018 and 2019. What did the Club members deem the “Best” wines from our Wine Ed events? We are also looking at an educational “Side by Side” tasting.
March and October will be the High End Wine & Food tasting with Chef Robbie excited to pair wines with some terrific creations….and then November’s “Wines for Holiday Entertaining”…
December brings us to our festive attire….“Holiday Party”…we will enjoy fine wines, an excellent dinner and dance on Friday, December 4.
WHEW……it’s going to be a FUN year!
Saying Good-Bye to 2019
I also want to say “THANK YOU” to all the volunteers and Board who helped with my first full year on the Board as Director of Kiva Events. To past Board members: Lynne Petersen, Janet Locklar, Sheri Beckman and others, THANK YOU for your words of wisdom, help and guidance.
We can’t forget Kelly Stewart for the knowledge he brings to the monthly Kiva tastings. He puts in a tremendous amount of work to help make it successful. Thank you Kelly.
A Special Thank You goes to our “retiring” Board members…JoJo Grove and Jan Trella for their years of dedication to the Wine Club members and Board.
A very special thank you to Diane Vetter, our outgoing President. She has been absolutely a godsend to the wine club. She took the job very seriously and watched over every aspect. I can only imagine the amount of hours she has spent directing this remarkable club.Thank you Diane from all of the members!!!! I know we will all be calling you and asking for your advice.
You will be missed!!!!
To Cory, my wife, best friend and teammate…. THANK YOU for absolutely everything you did to help me with the Ed tastings and the Wine Club Holiday Party. We have heard so many positive comments.

Home Socials – Jan Trella
As we start 2020, it is always nice to reflect on the past year. 2019 was a busy year with the Home Socials in the Wine Club. We held socials in 10 months, only taking off in July and August. We had 37 hosts for the socials this year (2 more than last year) and 1342 people attended the socials (115 more than 2018). We thank all of you who opened your homes for these socials and look forward to enjoying socials again in 2020. Of course, we cannot enjoy Home Socials if we do not have hosts.
My three years on the Wine Board were up December 31st but Sue Bieber, who was the Membership Chair this year, has taken over the Home Socials. There are already 27 hosts in place for this year, but there are still slots available for March 14th (1 needed), April 11th (1 needed), May 9th (1), June 13th, September 12th (3), October 10th (1), November 14th (1), and 3 for December 12th. We do need homes in TW because we only have homes scheduled there February, and June. We like to have one home there each month. If you can fill in these slots, contact Sue at [email protected]
Finally, it is always good to remind everyone, especially new members the requirements for participating in Home Socials.
- Home Socials are held on the second Saturday of the month
- Home Socials are for Wine Club Members only
- All participants in Home Socials are expected to host (it works out to about once every 3 to 4 years)
- Each person attending is to bring 1 bottle of wine (2 per couple) valued at least $10. These wines are then left with the host.
- Each couple is to bring one appetizer to share.
DO NOT CHANGE YOUR PUNCHBOWL RSVP FROM YES TO NO AFTER THE ASSIGNMENTS ARE MADE.
It has been my pleasure to serve the last three years on the Wine Board. Thanks for all your help.
Cheers and have a Happy and Healthy 2020!
Jan Trella, 2019 Home Social Chair
